Magical Delos, sister island of Mykonos, was first inhabited in 3000 B.C.
This island, declared “”Sacred Island”" by the Greek government, contains ruins of one of the most important and glorious civilizations the world has ever known. The island itself is relatively small – six kilometers long and 1,500 meters wide – but it is monumental in Greek history and mythology. Delos is not only the geological center of the Cyclades, but was once the commercial, religious, and commercial center of ancient Greece.
The myth of Delos : Zeus was looking for a sanctuary for Leto who he impregnated so she could give birth out of the sight of Hera, the very jealous wife of Zeus. He chose Delos. Leto gave birth to Apollo, god of light, and his sister Artemis, goddess of hunting.
History tells us that the island was probably first inhabited in 3000 B.C. and at the end of the fourth century it developed into a major commercial center, competing with Rhodes. By Roman times, Delos had roughly 25,000 inhabitants. Archaeologists uncovered evidence of Ioanians living here in the 7th century B.C., followed through the centuries by Athenians, Delians, Egyptians, Syrians, and Romans.

“The Jerusalem of the Aegean” is one way of describing Patmos or Patnos, as it was referred to in one 5th century inscription. It was here that St. John the Theologian was exiled between 95 and 97 A.D. and was inspired to write the Book of Revelation or Apocalypse.
Patmos, situated between Leros and Ikaria, is a mountainous island with rocky soil and an abundance of small coves.
The majestic fortress-monastery crowns the hill above the port, surrounded by dazzling white houses, miniscule churches and grand sea captains’ mansions, separated from each other by narrow lanes, high walls and small squares

Paros is the Grand Central Station of the Aegean. Most boats stop here. The Town is full of foreigners and bars. Head for the smaller villages or Antiparos. The tiny idyllic fishing village of Naoussa is so crowded in the summer that you have to stand in line to walk past the cafes that surround the port. The beaches of Paros though popular are also quite nice. Antiparos has nice beaches and cafes and is more relaxed then Paros. There is also the gigantic Cave of Antiparos which is the most popular site on the island. Paros is the Windsurfing capital of Greece. In Paros you have the island for every man. Why? Well for one reason just about every ferry stops here. For another reason, once people stop here some people do not want to leave. There are plenty of beautiful beaches of all different sizes and shapes. There are hotels of every category, from luxury villas to simple rooms. There are great restaurants and plenty of night life including bars that may make you feel like you never left Daytona Beach. And there are hordes of people to interact with.
It may not be the Greece you are looking for but there’s a good chance you will have as much fun as you could have had in Mykonos and you will still be able to afford to buy some gifts for your family and friends without using the credit card you were saving for emergencies.
